Winter Newsletter

Happy Solstice everyone!

Many winter posts begin by gently talking about how the season calls us to turn inward, but honestly my biology forces me to pull inside myself like a turtle. I am so, so, sooo tired despite the ambition to end the year well, enjoy the festivities and start the new year on the right foot.

It’s the giving season. Giving up.

How about another word for giving up? It’s all about perspective. It can feel like a failure or it can feel like surrender, release and letting go. Time to lay down my sword and shield so that I can stop fighting against the current and allow myself to flow in the river, held by the waters around me.

I give in to the rhythms of my biology and let myself take it easy, eat soup and sleep. Luckily this year has had way more sun during my free time than previous years and I always carve out time to get outside on sunny days even if it it only for a minute. I have also created a cheerful ambiance around the house with my SADD lamp/ happy light in the morning and fairy lights at night.

What have I been up to?
Green hair, don’t care. I have been feeling like I need a personal transformation so I decided to go green for the season. It was fun for Halloween and again for Christmas, but now I am ready to do something else January 31st to ring in the new year!

My current ambitions
An ongoing goal for me is to streamline, automate, trim away, and otherwise lean out my life. Quality over quantity.

What I am loving right now
I just bought “gamer glasses” to wear before. These are a pair of glasses with red lenses and a pair with orange lenses. The idea is that they block out the light from screens if you are gaming before bed. I’m really sensitive to light keeping me awake at night so I wear them around the house. They give the appearance of a nice warm glow and tell my eyes, brain and body, “Hey, it’s bedtime”. I would recommend giving them a try if you have trouble falling asleep at night. Pretty sure I am getting less attractive before bed on a daily basis with my Frownies®, gamer glasses, and other wellness gadgets.
My personal favourite essential oil right now is “Candy Cane Lane” by NOW because it gives an energy boost and seasonal uplift during the afternoon lows. My guess is that it is 90% vanilla and 10% peppermint for a balanced blend that can be diffused on a tissue and tucked in a shirt pocket.

What’s coming up
Look forward to more content on sleep, lifestyle, longevity and lymphatics.
Way more YogaFit trainings have been added to the schedule here.
I will be posting a Winter Well-Being series all about SLEEP over on YouTube.

I will be unplugging and taking a break from today until the 5th of January. I will still be keeping an eye on socials and email but at a vastly reduced rate. I am embracing boredom, looking out the window, and staring in to space.

Feeling Festive,
Gwendolyn
